What membership involves

The BTPA is a formal company limited by guarantee. It has its own bank accounts and corporate structure.

Formal Membership Requirements are light:

  • Your membership fees will be £2000 per annum, paid either in January or in two installments in January and July.
  • A senior member of your company should attend the three to four regular BTPA meetings each year and any interim meetings that are called. In the event that that individual cannot attend a meeting he or she should arrange that a proxy attends.
  • Your company should appoint an individual to constantly review, update and add to your company’s sections on the web site
  • You can vote on major decisions
  • Every two years you can, if you would like to, in the elections for the BTPA board
  • Member companies should display the BTPA logo on relevant exhibition stands, web sites and marketing collateral
  • Informally there is a lot to do. This is a members association and will only be successful if members commit time and effort.
  • BTPA meetings have varied agendas, ranging from planning future BTPA activities and discussions of key assessment issues to talks by key figures on legal, scientific and professional aspects of testing. The tone of the meetings is informal. Members have different types of products and services and different views of testing so discussions are frank but collegial. While some of our members are direct competitors, the association addresses issues of concern to the whole industry and its customers. Members are expected to contribute to these discussions.
  • Resources: The BTPA keeps subscription fees low and has very low running costs, enabling us to spend the majority of income on external activities. Where necessary and possible, members offer limited amounts of their own time and that of their staff to further BTPA objectives. As an example, staff from member companies have been very involved in our web site development and PR activities
  • Marketing: Members can contribute hugely by including the BTPA in selected marketing activities, whether these are aimed at end users or in our recruitment of other test publishers.
  • Other Events: Members can contribute to presentations, workshops, interviews and broadcast events
