The Business Test Publishers Association have upgraded and added to their web site to create a centre of psychometric information

The Business Test Publishers Association have upgraded and added to their web site to create a centre of psychometric information. It includes a very focused job board on which publishers, consultancies and other businesses can advertise testing-related jobs.

“ Our idea is to create an on-line resource which complements the British Psychological Society’s ON Line Testing Centre, “ says Richard Alberg, BTPA’s Chairperson.” This will give users a real range of advice and information as well as ways of feeding back their criticisms and needs”.

Last year the BTPA added a psychometrics job portal to their main web site. Now they’ve revised and integrated the whole site. “ We’re aiming to provide more articles on key test issues,” says Rob Feltham of Cubiks.” We’ve asked John Harradence, formerly the editor of Assessment Matters, to act as our publisher. This will ensure the contents are guided by genuine user needs, not member companies commercial motives.”

“ We’ll particularly concentrate on internet testing,” Martin Reed of Thomas International comments. “Last year was the breakthrough year for this area but there are still huge debates about what is good professional practice. We want to contribute to these.”

Roy Childs of Team Focus feels that the Test Finder function on the site is particularly useful.” There are so many assessments out there. Used with the BPS reviews, this will really help users find their way through the maze. Case studies on the site show how the instruments really work in practice.”

Future developments will include Newsletters, a test users information exchange and sharing of useful content with other organisations.

Psychometric use is growing. The site will help users understand new developments and, via the job board, source staff who can become their internal consultants.
